3 Coworking Spaces to Work in during pandemic
The pandemic has caused a lingering impact on coworking spaces that will go on for many months (or even years). Our working patterns have also fundamentally shifted due to our habit of working from home since pandemic started and this could be bad for the business model of coworking spaces.
However, this doesn’t mean communal work spaces are dead. Fortunately, coworking spaces have made adjustments to their business operations to cater to the emerging work behaviours of their users. Several examples are providing increased flexibility, digitalising their operations and offering coworking experiences beyond the physical space.
With this in mind, there is no better time to explore these coworking spaces in Klang Valley that we think have tweaked their offerings to what we believe will become the future of coworking in a post-pandemic world.
Colony Coworking
Colony is a luxury coworking space provider in Malaysia with presence in prominent locations such as KLCC, KL Sentral and Mutiara Damansara. They had recently introduced Ultra Flex policy which provides unprecedented flexibility to their members
Instead of being bounded by long term contracts, members can terminate their contract with Colony within 1 working day and get their deposit refunded. Instead of having contracts run continuously, membership can be frozen by giving 1 day notice.
Instead of having a fixed workspace, members now have the option to mix & match between private offices and reserved desks. This to us is flexibility at its finest.

WORQ
We understand that travelling to the city centre is a hassle due to travel restrictions imposed. If you are looking for a great place to work outside of KL City Centre, look no further to WORQ which has presence in mature neighbourhoods such as Bangsar South, TTDI, Subang and Mutiara Damansara.
To encourage businesses to sustain during uncertain times, WORQ recently introduced “The Uplift Initiative” which provides 50% off their hot desks. The discounted rate means members only have to pay a monthly rate of RM200 to be a member of WORQ. This WORQ-ed out (no pun intended) to less than a cup of Starbucks a day. They also introduced virtual tours on all locations which certainly helps if you can’t decide which outlet to be based in.

Common Ground
If you haven’t heard of Common Ground, chances are one of your co-workers have. Common Ground is the largest coworking space operator in Malaysia, with 12 venues in Klang Valley and one in Penang. With its chic interiors (which reminds me of WeWork) and affordable membership fees, Common Ground has been one of my favourite coworking spaces over the past few years.
Just a few days ago, our colleague Henry was scrolling through his Instagram feed and came across Common Ground’s new program which provides enhanced flexibility to its members at a discounted price. Apart from being more flexible with their memberships, Common Ground also partners with local cafes such as The Warung and PastryVille to serve visitors good coffees.

There you go...
These are the 3 coworking spaces we recommend going to if you are bored of working at home and want a change of environment to work in. Hope you’ll enjoy their coffee as much as we do too.
One of the prominent trends we observed across coworking spaces, both local and globally, is an increase in flex working initiatives to allow members to have more control over when and where they want to work. If this trend continues, it is a matter of time before employees can experience working in multiple workspaces at their own comfort.
Similarly, at Roomah, we strongly believe that flexibility shouldn’t come at a premium and ensure our residents can live with us month-to-month without having to break the bank. If you are tired of being bonded by yearly leases and would like to experience a more flexible way of living, feel free to explore any of our Roomahs
